Basic terms and techniques:
- Furidashi - initiation, putting the car into a skid before a turn.
- Clipping Zone - the zone that the driver must pass as close as possible to the inner (or outer) border of the track (usually marked with "adidas" - three white stripes).
- Furikaeshi - a quick change in the direction of the skid (re-lay).
- Tanso - single qualifying races.
- Tsuiso - paired races (leader and pursuer).
- Backward - a position in which the rear of the car goes in front of the front (sliding angle> 90 °).
- Clutch Kick - a sharp hit on the clutch pedal to break the wheels into wheelspin.
- Powerslide - a skid caused by excess engine power.
- Dirt Drop - a drift in which the rear wheel passes On the ground (off the track) to hold the corner.
- Kiss the Wall — "kissing" the wall, touching the fence with the rear bumper without losing momentum.
Judging and technical terms:
- Anikuya — a perfect run worth 100 points.
- One More Time — the judges' command to retry if the results are tied.
- Bye Run — a single run if the opponent does not start.
- Angle — the angle of the skid relative to the trajectory.
Types of slides:
- Handbrake Drift — a skid using the handbrake.
- Kansei Drift — a skid caused by releasing the gas at high speed.
- Jump Drift — a drift with the wheels lifting off the surface.
Refereeing terms and evaluation:
- Qualification (Solo run/Tanso): Solo runs to determine the paired runs grid, scoring from 0 to 100 points.
- Judging criteria: Specific requirements for the course, corners and passing points, as stated by the judges.
- Line: The ideal trajectory as indicated by the judges.
- Angle: The amount of drift (the bigger the angle, the better).
- Style: Smooth, no steering corrections, aggressive.
- Clipping zone (Adidas): The inner zone (often marked with markings) that you must pass as close as possible to the front or rear bumper.
- Touch and go: The outer area that needs to be touched with the rear wheel/bumper.
- Transition: A rapid change in drift angle from one side to the other.
- Furidashi: The area where the car is put into a skid.
- Backward: A position in which the rear axle "overtakes" the front axle.
Technical Terms and Errors (Resetting):
- Zero Run / "Zero": Receiving 0 points for a critical error.
- Straighten: Losing angle, riding on straight wheels.
- Spin: Loss of control, turning 180 degrees or more.
- Off-track: Driving off-track with two or four wheels.
- Opposite drift: Movement at an angle opposite to the judge's instructions.
- Unchaseable lead run: A mistake by the leader that causes the pursuer to make a critical error.
- Bye run (Technical run): A single run if the opponent has a technical failure.
- Heat: A pair of runs (leader-chase and change) in a paired run.
Key points:
- Line (30-40%): Passage through specified zones (clipping zones).
- Angle (20-30%): The maximum possible angle throughout the entire distance.
- Style/Speed (20-30%): Stability, speed and speed of changes.
- In paired races, the main task of the pursuer is to mirror the leader with a minimum distance.
